A proportional throttle valve includes a valve piston (2) displaceably guided in the longitudinal direction in a valve housing (3) having a fluid inlet (4) and a fluid outlet (5) and pretensioned by an energy accumulator, in particular in the form a pressure spring, against a stroke stop (6) defining the closure position. A pressure limiting valve (7) is integrated in the proportional throttle valve (1).
