<p>A dielectrically loaded antenna 10, or a method of making such an antenna, comprises an electrically insulative core 12, a first patterned conductive layer with a plurality of conductive tracks on the core surface, which is at least partially overlaid by a dielectric layer 11 and where a second patterned conductive layer is formed with plural conductive tracks which at least partially overlap the said first conductive tracks. The conductive tracks 10A-10F may be elongate helical tracks where respective inner and outer tracks are in register with each other and insulated from one another over at least part of the conductive patterns by the insulating layer 11 which may be arranged such that end and intermediate contact points occur between the conductive patterns. Photo-etch resist (PER) colloid, electrophoretic deposition, mask and laser arrangements may be used. The insulating material 12 may be a ceramic-loaded plastic or epoxy board material. The insulating layer 11 may be a polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and the conductive material may be copper.</p> |
