The handling device (10) has a suction device (15) for sucking and lifting of a workpiece (12.1). A low pressure source (14) is produced by preparation of a low pressure power of a lower pressure for suction of the workpiece. A pressure meter (16) is provided for measuring the lower pressure in the suction device. A control circuit (18) is adapted to regulate the low pressure power with respect to the lower pressure in the suction device such that minimum lower pressure is generated for lifting the workpiece. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for lifting a plastic-shaped workpiece of wood or plastic material by lifting device; and (2) a computer program for the execution of lifting method.
