PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an image forming apparatus, which can adjust the quantity of light rays emitted by an exposure device based on the static charge characteristic of a photoreceptor drum, small in size and low in cost. SOLUTION: An image carrier unit having an image carrier and attached to the image forming apparatus is provided with a static charge characteristic storage means in which the static charge characteristic of the image carrier is previously stored. In the image forming apparatus, the quantity of light radiated from an exposure means which radiates the light to the image carrier electrified to predetermined potential so as to form an electrostatic latent image on the image carrier is adjusted based on the static charge characteristic stored in the static charge characteristic storage means.
