<p>The method involves acquiring a plethysmographic waveform of a patient. The waveform is analyzed to determine a timing period and a deflation period, and a blood pressure cuff (12) is inflated to a pressure level. A beginning of one of oscillation pulses is detected from a pressure transducer. Amplitude of the oscillation pulse is determined at the pressure level during the timing period following the beginning of the oscillation pulse. The cuff is deflated during the deflation period to another pressure level, where the deflation period follows the timing period. An independent claim is also included for a system for determining the blood pressure of a patient.</p> |
