The invention relates to a device for protecting objects against theft and for presenting information, the protected objects being arranged in locations of a display unit, said device comprising at least one management means, preferably a host computer system; a detector attached to each object, each detector and corresponding object forming a couple, the detector being encoded with a unique detector identifier and/or having the capability to read, over a radio frequency, an identifier of the unique object stored in the object and transmitted by the object to said detector; a centre, each detector being linked to the centre via a specific input having a predetermined input reference, the centre being capable of reading the detector identifier and/or the object identifier, as the case may be; a means for presenting information, each means for presenting information being associated with a predetermined location for an object, the device also comprising a means enabling the means for presenting information of a given location to present information relating to the object placed in said location, while objects that carry their own detectors can be placed in and moved to any one of the locations. |
