PURPOSE: A method for classifying coal is provided to analyze the organization of coal by comparing a measured reflecting value and database, thereby efficiently reducing time for an analysis. CONSTITUTION: A method for classifying coal is as follows. An analysis specimen from unknown coal is prepared(S110). Lights are irradiated on the analysis specimen. The lights reflected by the analysis specimen are measured. A reflecting rate of the analysis specimen is calculated from the reflected lights(S140). The calculated reflecting rate is compared with reflecting rate data saved in advance(S150). The organization of the unknown coal is determined(S160).
