A display apparatus and a method for controlling the same are provided to enable a user to easily check information on broadcasting programs currently broadcasted through other channels. A signal processing part(20) processes an inputted broadcasting signal and displays the processed broadcasting signal on a main screen of a display part(30). A UI(User Interface) generating part(50) generates program information corresponding to a channel, displayed on the main screen, on a broadcasting information window in a predetermined area of the display part. A user selection part(40) allows a user to select a channel-up/down key. A control part determines whether the broadcasting information window is activated if the channel-up/down key is selected through the user selection part. If the broadcasting information window is activated, the control part switches the program information, displayed on the broadcasting information window, so that the program information corresponds to a selected channel. |
