PURPOSE: A decomposing apparatus for sulfur hexafluoride using dielectric barrier discharge-activated alumina, and a decomposing method for the same are provided to accelerate a decomposing reaction of sulfur hexafluoride by using alumina which is activated by dielectric barrier discharge plasma. CONSTITUTION: A decomposing method for sulfur hexafluoride using dielectric barrier discharge-activated alumina includes the following steps: a dielectric barrier discharging part(110) and a catalyst(120) are prepared; the dielectric barrier discharging part includes a core electrode(111) to which an electric voltage is applied, and a hollow dielectric tube(112) which receives the core electrode; the catalyst is interposed between the core electrode and the dielectric tube; electrical currents are supplied to the core electrode to induce dielectric barrier discharge at the dielectric barrier discharging part in order to activate the catalyst; and sulfur hexafluoride and reaction gas with oxygen atoms are supplied into the dielectric tube to decompose sulfur hexafluoride.
