摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure heat quantity required for warming up catalyst without causing an increase in size or cost of the catalyst and achieve early activation. <P>SOLUTION: ECU 50 drives and controls an inlet side switch valve 6, an outlet side switch valve 7 and a pump 10 and increases the temperature of exhaust gas by making a heat generating material inside a heat exchanger 5 by exothermic hydration reaction if the temperature of the catalyst 3 does not reach an activation temperature based on a signal from a temperature sensor 30 which detects the temperature of the catalyst 3. By feeding high-temperature exhaust gas to the catalyst 3, the catalyst 3 is activated early. Regeneration control is performed to regenerate the heat generating material 22 inside the heat exchanger 5 by opening an opening/closing valve 12 of a passage 11 for regeneration after the temperature of the catalyst 3 reaches the activation temperature and by feeding the high-temperature exhaust gas having passed through the catalyst 3 to a heat generating pipe 21 of the heat exchanger 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
