<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve reduction in the number of components, simplification of structure, cost reduction and the like of a hydraulic control device applied to a valve timing change system. <P>SOLUTION: The hydraulic control device includes: a sleeve 110 which defines a supply port 110c, a plurality of discharge ports 110a, 110d, and 110h, an advanced angle port 110g, and a retarded angle port 110e; and spools 120 which is reciprocally driven in close contact with each other in the sleeve to open and close the ports, and performs switching to an advanced angle mode, a retarded angle mode, a holding mode, and a drain mode. The hydraulic control device further includes a common communication path 3 which makes the supply port communicate with the advanced angle port in the advanced angle mode, makes the supply port communicate with the retarded angle port in the retarded angle mode, and makes one of the advanced angle port and retarded angle port communicate with the discharge port in the drain mode while making the other of the advanced angle port and retarded angle port communicate with the discharge port.
