<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an actuator having a downsized electrode structure. <P>SOLUTION: An actuator comprises an actuator element having a first electrode and a second electrode, a driving circuit supplying a driving voltage to the actuator element, and a detection circuit detecting a voltage difference between the first electrode and the second electrode. The driving voltage is supplied within a first period in a predetermined period so that the voltage difference between the first electrode and the second electrode occurs. The voltage difference is detected within a second period other than the first period in the predetermined period.
