<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb compact firing method capable of suppressing generation of cracks on a cylindrical part, a diaphragm part and a sealing material during cooling after burning and removing fine particles and capable of efficiently burning and removing fine particles. <P>SOLUTION: In the honeycomb compact firing method, a honeycomb compact formed by the cylindrical part and the diaphragm part arranged like a grid on the inside of the cylindrical part and having breathability, including a plurality of ventilation holes whose inlets and outlets of fluid are alternately sealed by the sealing material and configured so that the area of each inlet is larger than the area of each outlet is set so that the outlet side is placed on a firing board, and is fired. The outlet side is placed downward and the end faces of the outlets are made more flat due to the tare weight of the honeycomb compact itself and restriction by a firing member such as a firing board and a firing substrate abutting on the lower side of the honeycomb compact, so that dispersion of temperatures in the vicinity of the end faces of the outlets is reduced and generation of cracks on the cylindrical part, the diaphragm part and the sealing material can be suppressed even when burning and removal are repeated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
