<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable any type of multifunction printer (MFP) to be easily operated with a user-customized UI image, in a system comprising a server and a plurality of MFPs which are connected to the server via a network and are capable of outputting images. <P>SOLUTION: An authentication processing unit 13 in an MFP 1 requests servers to perform user authentication on the basis of user information including at least a user ID input from a portable terminal device 5 or an operation panel 12. The servers comprise: a user authentication unit 21 for performing the user authentication; and a UI instruction unit 31 for, when the user authentication is successful, specifying a UI image to be displayed on a display panel 52 of the device 5 for operating the MFP 1 according to the user ID to instruct the MFP 1 to display the UI image in the device 5.
