<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a landing gear system taking into account one or a plurality of challenges regarding the length of a column of the landing gear system that may affect the performance of an aircraft, or other potential challenges. <P>SOLUTION: A method and device for changing the length of the landing gear system are provided. A first cylinder 326 and a second cylinder 328 are moved mutually relatively along an axis 330 extending through the center of the first and second cylinders so that the first and second cylinders are in an extended position. In response to a fact that the first and second cylinders are in the extended position, flow of fluid is substantially prevented between a first chamber 342 formed between the first cylinder and the second cylinder, and a second cylinder 344 inside the first and second cylinders. In response to pressure applied to the first chamber, the first and second cylinders are moved mutually relatively along the axis so that the lengths of the first and second cylinders are reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
