<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide in a simple configuration a projection type image display apparatus that can reproduce in good picture quality a projected image displayed on a screen and manually inputted pictures and other items as a single combined picture. <P>SOLUTION: A projector generates picture distortion correcting information for so correcting any distortion of a projected area as to match the projected area with a screen area on the basis of a picked-up picture of the screen. The projector comprises instruction accepting means for accepting an image pickup instruction to cause an image pickup unit to pick up an image; image pickup means for generating a picked-up picture of the screen with the image pickup unit when accepting the image pickup instruction; extracting means for extracting a screen area from the picked-up picture of the screen generated by the image pickup means; and image generating means for generating picture signals representing the display contents of the screen by correcting, on the basis of the picture distortion correcting information, the screen area extracted by the extracting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
