<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting a crack of the piston rod of a forging machine that can easily and reliably detect the progress of the crack of the piston rod. <P>SOLUTION: The invention is a method for detecting a crack of the piston rod of a forging machine which includes: a piston rod which drives up and down; a ram having a through-hole and connecting with the through-hole and the lower end of the piston rod; an upper die detachably connected with the ram; and a lower die disposed opposite to the upper die. The method for detecting the crack of the piston rod of a forging machine is, for example, a method for detecting a crack of the piston rod of a drop hammer forging machine which forges a material by the upper die and the lower die by the drive of the piston rod so as to remove the upper die from the ram, to make an ultrasonic flaw probe contact with the lower end of the exposed piston rod, and to detect the crack which progresses in the radius direction from the side of the piston rod. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
