PURPOSE: A mode conversion method is provided to perform a port switching operation which automatically converts to a solid state drive mode or an optical disc drive mode, thereby normally interfacing with a host. CONSTITUTION: When power in a hybrid drive which a solid state drive and an optical disk drive are included is turned on, the solid state drive is established as an operation mode and the optical disk drive is established as a sleep mode. The solid state drive is converted to a holding mode according to use of the optical disk drive and a first state condition and the optical disk drive is converted to the operation mode. The solid state drive is converted to the operation mode according to nonuse of the optical disk drive and a second state condition and the optical disk drive is converted th the sleep mode.
