<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device that can prevent a diaphragm part that focuses light from a light source from being left in a malfunction state. <P>SOLUTION: A projector includes: a light source lamp 201; liquid crystal panels 212, 214, and 217 modulating light from the light source lamp 201; a variable diaphragm 205 whose opening amount can be adjusted and which focuses the light going toward the liquid crystal panels 212, 214, and 217 through the opening; a CPU 407 controlling the variable diaphragm 205; and an illuminance sensor 219 detecting the amount of light having passed through the variable diaphragm 205. The CPU 407 determines whether the operation of the variable diaphragm 205 is normal or not based on the illuminance Lx detected by the illuminance sensor 219. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
