PURPOSE: A position display system and an operation method thereof are provided to improve effectiveness of observation position selection by offering a coordinate of a location spot of a user and an altitude value to the user. CONSTITUTION: A position display system and an operation method thereof are provided to comprise a current coordinate calculation module(100), an altitude mapping database(110), a position information extracting module(120), a coordinate converting module(130), and position information display module(140). The current coordinate calculation module calculates a current coordinate showing a location spot of a user. The altitude mapping database stores altitude mapping information according to coordinate. The position information extracting module extracts an altitude of the current coordinate in an altitude mapping module. The position information extracting module extracts a recommendation coordinate and an altitude of the recommendation coordinate. The position information display module indicates the current coordinate and the altitude of the current coordinate.
