The device has a control module (22) running a heat engine (40) by applying charging voltage across a lead-acid battery (10) to fully charge the battery when the battery reaches charge state, and applying voltage across the battery for predetermined time. The control module temporarily stops application of the charging voltage or the voltage when the battery temperature is lower than minimum temperature threshold value, and cancels the application of the charging voltage or the voltage when the battery temperature is greater than maximum temperature threshold value.
