The pad (2) has a unit for receiving or producing a representation of data e.g. document data. Information (4) representing a part of the data, and another information representing a part of signing data are combined to obtain combination information. A signature of the combination information is generated based on a private key, which forms an asymmetric Key pair with a public key. The unit outputs a representation of the signature of the combination information, and another representation of the part of the signing data. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device connected to a signature pad (2) a computer program comprising instructions for executing steps for receiving or producing a representation of data.
