<p>The present invention relates to a method for detecting and handling a link failure in an RRPP ring network. If a slave port of a main node does not receive a loop state detection packet within a timing period of a failure timer, then the main node transmits via the slave port a unidirectional loop detection packet, and activates a failure timer of the master port. If the master port of the main node does receive the unidirectional loop detection packet within the timing period of the failure timer of the master port, then the main node maintains a blocked state of the slave port, and reports unidirectional loop alarm information. If the unidirectional loop detection packet is not received, then the main node lifts the blocked state of the slave port, and forwards a data packet via the slave port. Also provided in embodiments of the present invention is the main node in the RRPP ring network. Because the slave port is kept blocked when a link failure is found to be a unidirectional failure, the data packet is prevented from generating a storm in the reverse-direction loop, and the alarm information is reported timely, thus improving the stability of loop service.</p> |
