<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multimode operation mechanism for ensuring highly reliable network communication in a wireless network. <P>SOLUTION: In order to support multimode operation, a method to be implemented in a wireless network system consists of the conditions for starting roll change function, a scheme for initially setting the roll change function, and a message for use in the roll change function. The roll change function is enabled by operating a mobile station as a repeater station. The roll change function is also enabled by operating a mobile station as a base station. When a mobile station supports the repeater station, there are two schemes, i.e. a centralized scheme and a distributed scheme.
