<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable displacement compressor that is capable of sufficiently suppressing pulsation during the variable displacement operation. <P>SOLUTION: A suction throttle valve 34 and a second control valve 35 are accommodated in an accommodating chamber 133 formed in a rear housing 13. The suction throttle valve 34 throttles a suction passage from an introduction passage 55 to a suction chamber 131 in accordance with a back pressure in a first back pressure chamber 63. The second control valve 35 adjusts the cross-sectional area of a discharge passage from a control pressure chamber 121 to the suction chamber 131. The cross-sectional area of the discharge passage adjusted by the second control valve 35 when the first control valve 33 is closed is larger than that when the first control valve is open.
