摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus in which a fault is less likely to occur in a light emitting element constituting a light irradiation unit and with which recording can be continued if a fault does occur during recording. <P>SOLUTION: This recording apparatus includes: a light irradiation unit 19 including a light emitting element row 39 having therein a plurality of light emitting elements 41 aligned in the same direction as a nozzle row, the light emitting elements being configured to apply light to photoreactive liquid discharged onto a recording target material to cause the photoreactive liquid to undergo a chemical change; a fault detection unit 20 that detects whether there is a fault in each of the light emitting elements forming each light emitting element row; and a control unit 21 that controls a recording operation of the recording head, an operation of the light irradiation unit, and an operation of the fault detection unit. The light irradiation unit includes a plurality of the light emitting element rows arranged therein. Each of the light emitting element rows includes the light emitting elements connected in series. The control unit is configured to, when the fault detection unit detects a fault in a light emitting element, enter a fault mode where one of the light emitting element rows to which the light emitting element having the fault belongs is turned off and recording is performed with the remaining light emitting element rows. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
