<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a platform gate apparatus preventing a fall accident of a person on a platform onto a track and preventing a contact accident with a running train, installable inexpensively, and coping with the difference in a door interval being different in accordance with a type of the train and coping with the difference in the number of the doors, and to provide a strong safety fence installable together with the apparatus inexpensively. <P>SOLUTION: The platform gate apparatus 1 has a portal gate frame 2 installed facing the door of the train arriving at the platform 100 of a station, and a partitioning material 6 vertically opening and closing by moving an elevating mechanism together with the opening/closing of the door of the train is installed inside the gate frame 2.
