The invention relates to a passive safety system and personal equipment on vessels for man-overboard situations. The personal equipment, which is ready to be worn by a crew member of the vessel, includes: a first module (2) built into a belt (4); a life jacket (5) folded inside the first module (2) and connected to the latter by at least one tape (6); a second module (8) located inside the first module (2), connected to the life jacket (5) and configured such as to inflate the life jacket (5) when detecting a man-overboard situation, the first module (2) including, on the rear portion thereof, a flap (3) configured such as to be opened by the inflation of the life jacket (5), enabling the latter to pass through to the outside of the first module (2). The system can be used as passive safety element for "man overboard" situations, to enable immediate detection of said situation and a quick rescue.
