IMAGE DISPLAY SYSTEM, IMAGE GENERATION APPARATUS, AND IMAGE GENERATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display system, an image generation apparatus, and an image generation method which even if a peripheral image and a taken front image are displayed on a display screen while a shift position is at a reverse position, enable a driver to easily judge that the shift position is at the reverse position.

SOLUTION: An image display system 120 is provided with: a composite image generation part 34 which generates a composite image showing, on the basis of taken images, what is seen when viewing a vehicle and the surrounding of the vehicle from virtual viewpoints; a navigation device 20 which displays the composite image on a display screen; a guide line addition part 37 which adds guide lines to the composite image; and a guide line processing part 38 which while the vehicle is stopped and a shift position is at a reverse position, prohibits addition of the guide lines to the composite image.
