A microscope (1) comprises a light source (2), a condenser lens (6) which applies light from the light source (2) to a specimen (13), an objective lens (14) which faces the condenser lens (6) with the specimen (13) interposed therebetween, a polarizing plate (3) which is disposed between the light source (2) and the condenser lens (6), a condenser turret (5) which is disposed between the polarizing plate (3) and the condenser lens (6) and in which a plurality of optical elements are disposed, a polarizing plate (18) which is disposed closer to the image side than the objective lens (14) is, and a compensator (4) which is disposed between the polarizing plate (3) and the polarizing plate (18). In the microscope (1), an optical element disposed on an optical path among the plurality of optical elements disposed in the condenser turret (5) is changed by the rotation of the condenser turret (5) according to an observation method. |
