<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image processing device and an image processing method which can appropriately performing image conversion processing which converts one photographic image into an image in a painting tone (painting tone image). <P>SOLUTION: An image processing device performs painting conversion processing including creating an importance map by setting important areas corresponding to areas having high importance in image data, performing first image tone conversion processing on the important areas in the image data according to the importance map, and performing second image tone conversion processing different from the first image tone conversion processing on areas different from the important areas (SC104, SC105, SC106, and SC113). Thus, by performing the first image tone conversion suitable for the important areas in the image, and performing the second image tone conversion suitable for a background on areas except a face area, it is possible to realize natural image tone conversion overall. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
