PURPOSE: A carrier catalyst for preparing sugar alcohols by catalytic hydrogenation of sugars and a preparing method of the same are provided to collect a catalyst carrying ruthenium without a separate regenerating process. CONSTITUTION: A carrier catalyst for preparing sugar alcohols carries ruthenium in a carrier or a carrier mixture selected from silica, alumina, and titania. The carrier includes a thin film composed of nickel metal oxide. The content of the ruthenium is in a range between 0.2 and 15 weight% based on the total weight of the carrier catalyst. The content of nickel in the thin film is in a range between 0.5 and 15 weight% based on the total weight of the carrier catalyst. |
