COATED CUTTING TOOL INSERT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CVD coated insert having improved toughness characteristics.

SOLUTION: There is provided the CVD coated cutting tool insert including: a TiCxNy layer having a low tensile stress level of 50-390 Mpa; and Al2O3having surface smoothness having a high average Ra of 0.12 μm or lower measured by an interatomic force microscope (AFM) technology. This invention is obtained by applying strong wet spray treatment to the coating.
