A method of providing a therapeutic effect to bodily tissue, in which the method includes affixing a therapeutic electromagnetic field generating device to a patient in which the bodily tissue is located, activating the therapeutic electromagnetic field generating device to generate a pulsed electromagnetic field, in which the pulsed electromagnetic field has a pulse frequency and a duty cycle, emitting the pulsed electromagnetic field in a direction of the bodily tissue, and inducing generation of heat in the bodily tissue to treat the bodily tissue based on absorption of the pulsed electromagnetic field, in which inducing the generation of heat provides a temperature change of at least 0.1 °C in the bodily tissue.
