<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear light source that has a plurality of resin-sealed light emitting elements on a substrate and is configured so as to prevent luminance unevenness. <P>SOLUTION: A linear light source is arranged so as to face an incidence surface of a lens and includes: a substrate 31; a plurality of light emitting elements that are aligned on the substrate 31; a dam 32 that is provided annularly around the light emitting elements on the substrate 31; and resin 50 that is provided on an inner side of the dam 32 and seals the light emitting elements.
