PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a lithium transition metal compound for a lithium secondary battery, by which a large amount of lithium transition metal compounds can be stably produced.

SOLUTION: In a method for producing a lithium transition metal compound using a multi-stage roll crusher, a lithium transition metal compound for a lithium secondary battery is pulverized while a gap between rolls of a first stage and a gap between rolls of a second stage are each set to be their respective specified gaps.
