<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the contamination of the conveying belt in the downstream side in a conveying direction by the disturbance of a coating material curtain. <P>SOLUTION: The coating device 10 has: a coating material-flowing down means 40 for flowing down a liquid coating material 17 in a curtain shape; conveying means 28, 29 crossing the coating material curtain 20 formed by the coating material-flowing down means 40 and conveying a material 12 to be coated; and a contamination preventing means 22 arranged downstream of the material 12 of the coating material-flowing down means 40 in the conveying direction (in the direction of an arrow P), receiving and stopping the going-out part of the coating material curtain 20 attracted to the conveying direction side of the material 12, and provided with an inclined part 26 inclining in the direction crossing the conveying direction in the lower end part.
