The reader has an image capture unit (11) i.e. camera, and a display unit (17) arranged at distance to a reading table (1). The display unit is secured at a frame (3), which is pivoted around a pivot axis (7) related to the reading table. The image capture unit is swingably connected to the frame around another pivot axis (15) and swingable into a vertical position over the reading table relative to the frame. The image capture unit is pivoted into a position on a user, where a pivoting angle of up to 45 degrees is provided on the basis of the vertical position.
