Remedy and diagnostic for mitochondrial dysfunction brain disease

It is intended to provide a remedy and a diagnostic for a brain disease typified by cerebral infarction. Namely, a remedy for a mitochondrial dysfunction brain disease characterized by comprising a combination of (A) aδ-aminolevulinic acid represented by the following general formula (1), its derivative or a salt thereof with (B) an iron compound: RRNCHCOCHCHCOR (1) wherein R and R independently represent each a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, acyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aryl or aralkyl group; and R represents a hydroxy, alkoxy, acyloxy, alkoxycarbonyloxy, aryloxy, aralkyloxy or amino group.
