The invention relates to a method for signalling a braking process at a trailer vehicle (2), wherein according to the invention a control device (9) which is arranged on the trailer vehicle (2) determines at least one braking value A which is assigned to the braking process, and actuates at least one brake light (19), arranged on the trailer vehicle (2), as a function of said braking value A in such a way that depending on this braking value A at the trailer vehicle (2) the braking process is signalled differently compared to signalling in the case of at least one other braking value A which can be determined by this control input (9) during a braking process. As a result, traffic following the trailer vehicle (2) and/or an emergency braking situation can be signalled and therefore safety in road traffic can be increased. In addition, the invention relates to the control device (9) for carrying out the method and to a dynamo system and to a trailer vehicle braking system which each have this control device (9), and to a trailer vehicle (2) which has the control device (9) or this dynamo system and/or trailer vehicle brake system.
