A water treatment cartridge (1) comprises a mounting part (18) arranged to cooperate with a hopper to allow the cartridge (1) to be secured so as to depend downwardly from an outlet opening of the hopper. The cartridge (1) further comprises a seal (16) on an outwardly facing surface arranged to cooperate with a hopper to allow the cartridge (1) to be secured therein. The cartridge (1) provides flexibility in its use and enables a universal fit with vessels and appliances that have different hopper designs.
