<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement a stable tone adjustment so as to keep a user from sensing a tone degradation due to clipping even when reducing the computational complexity of processing of correcting a tone characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: A characteristic correction device of an embodiment includes a correcting filter, input means and adjustment means. The correcting filter corrects a tone characteristic in a plurality of bands included in the frequency range of an input signal according to a preset frequency characteristic to generate an output signal. The input means inputs an ambient sound signal of sound around an output device for outputting the output signal. The adjustment means reduces the number of bands where the tone characteristic is corrected of the plurality of bands included in the frequency range of the input signal with increasing amplitude of the input ambient sound signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
