<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat ray shielding member that has high visible light transmittance and high solar reflectance, and excellent durability and weatherability, and in which temporal discoloration due to ultraviolet rays is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The heat ray shielding member includes a metal particle containing layer containing at least one kind of metal particles, and an ultraviolet ray absorbing layer. The metal particles include metal flat particles of substantially hexagonal shapes to substantially disk shapes by 60 number% or more.
