The controller (10) has a regulating shaft (16) for adjusting the compression ratio, where the regulating shaft is pivoted at a bearing point (22,24) at a bearing element around a rotational axis (20). The compression ratio is adjusted by a transmission element. The bearing point between two relatively movable bearing parts has a friction coefficient, through which a self-locking of the regulating shaft is induced. The regulating shaft has a pin (14) eccentric to the rotational axis, where the regulating shaft is positioned at the bearing element by the bearing parts.
