An occasional seat comprises a sheet of a planar material 1 bent along a plurality of preformed creases 10/11/12 such that it forms a number of predetermined, co-operating geometrical shapes 2/3/4, a means of temporally securing the adjacent co-operating said shapes together 7/8 and a further part of planar material 5 attached to at least one of the said shapes and bendable via a crease in a direction away from the said shapes, and is characterized in that the said shapes, when secured together, form an essentially rigid three-dimensional structure, with the further part attached to and extending away from the said structure and that when the securing means are undone the planar material may be folded along its creases to form a conveniently portable item. The co-operating shapes may be equilateral triangles and the planar material may be cardboard or plasticized cardboard which can be recycled, waterproofed or have a high frictional finish. The securing means may comprise of lugs 8 engaging with slots 7 or mechanical devices such as press studs (7/8, Fig 7). A solar panel (29, Fig 5) may be provided on one of the three dimensional surfaces to operate an electronic device (32, Fig 5). The invention further comprises a method of forming an occasional seat.
