A system and a method for managing a group mail are provided to enable users efficiently to check the group mail, and easily understand a read part and an unread part without checking history of the group mail returned many times one by one. A mail web server(100) provides a webpage related to a mail. A mail server(102) processes a mail transfer request of the mail web server and processes received mail data. A group mail server(106) receives the group mail from the user if the mail written by the user is the group mail, assigns a group mail ID and a group mail sequence ID to the received group mail, and stores the IDs. The group mail ID is assigned to the group mails returned many times in common and the group mail sequence ID is assigned to identify a sequence of each group mail returned many times. The group mail server determines a read state of group mail recipients of the group mail having the same group mail ID and the different group mail sequence ID, converts group mail data based on the mail read state, and transmits the converted group mail data to the mail web server. |
