PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate to be bonded to a liquid crystal cell, which has high polarization performance comparable to a conventional absorptive polarizing plate and a function as a brightness-enhancing film which reflects polarized light not transmitted to reuse the polarized light, and is free from a hue shift of transmitted light with respect to light impinging in an oblique direction and comprises a multilayer laminate reflective polarizing film.
SOLUTION: The polarizing plate to be bonded to a liquid crystal cell comprises a uniaxially drawn multilayer laminate film, where a first layer is made of a polyester comprising a specific aromatic dicarboxylic acid component and a diol component and a second layer is made of a thermoplastic resin having an average refractive index of no less than 1.50 but no more than 1.60 and having a difference of 0.05 or less between a refractive index before drawing and that after drawing in each of a X-direction, Y-direction and Z-direction, where the thermoplastic resin is a blend of a copolymerized polyethylene terephthalate or a copolymerized polyethylene naphthalene dicarboxylate and a polycyclohexane dimethylene terephthalate-isophthalate copolymer. With a film surface as a reflecting surface, an average reflectance at a wavelength of 400 to 800 nm of incident polarized light having incidence angles of 0° and 50° with respect to a polarization component parallel with an incidence surface including a uniaxial drawing direction (X-direction) is 95% or higher. With the film surface as the reflecting surface, an average reflectance at a wavelength of 400 to 800 nm of the incident polarized light having incidence angles of 0° and 50° with respect to a polarization component perpendicular to the incidence surface including the X-direction is 12% or lower.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
