PURPOSE: A tension pad apparatus is provided to effectively press raised portions of coil strip with upper pad blocks which are individually operated by a respective block cylinder. CONSTITUTION: A tension pad apparatus(1) comprises side stands(3), an upper frame(4) which is horizontally installed connecting the tops of side stands, an upper hydraulic cylinder(5), an upper beam(10) which is lifted by the upper hydraulic cylinder with both ends slid up and down along the side stands, a lower beam(20) which is arranged with a gap from the upper beam to let a metal plate through, a lower pad which contacts the underside of the metal plate, upper pad blocks which contact the upper side of the metal plate, and block cylinders(30) which are connected to the respective upper pad blocks and control the positions of the upper pad blocks in the vertical direction.
