Light curtain

The light curtain has a transmitting strip (1) for emitting multiple light beams (3), and a receiving strip (2) for receiving these beams. A position sensor detects the position of a object in the monitoring region of the light curtain. An evaluation unit receives the position signals from the position sensor, and a comparison of reference values with the received signals is made based on the position signals. An independent claim is included for a method of operating a light curtain.
