The present invention provides an image display device capable of, by using a general-purpose image display driver configured to operate based on display data pieces each containing tones corresponding to plural bits, quickly performing bit extension processing to perform tone display corresponding to the display data pieces without providing any special circuit configured to perform the bit extension. A controller (9) is configured to combine the display data pieces output through display data output terminals (P0 to P2) with fixed values output through operation code output terminals (C01 to C05, C07 to C12, and C14 to C17) which are not commonly connected to the display data output terminals, store in a display memory (12) the combined data pieces as tone codes each containing predetermined two or more bits, and set a tone conversion table such that the stored tone codes correspond to tone output values. |
